Counselling for Type 1 Diabetes
Living with more than diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is often described in terms of blood glucose levels, insulin doses and technology. Yet anyone living with it knows there is much more to manage than the condition itself.
The constant decision-making. The unpredictability. The impact on work, relationships, sleep, confidence and everyday life. The pressure of always needing to think ahead, even when you're exhausted.
For some, it can feel as though diabetes is always present, even when no one else can see it.
Counselling offers a space to explore the emotional and psychological impact of living with Type 1 diabetes, alongside whatever else life may be bringing.

How I work
As an integrative counsellor, I work with you as a whole person, not simply someone living with Type 1 diabetes.
While diabetes may be part of our conversations, it doesn't have to be the whole story. Together we can explore both the emotional impact of the condition and whatever else is important in your life.

What might we explore?
Every person's experience is different, but counselling may help with:
-
Diabetes burnout and overwhelm
-
Anxiety, including fear of hypos or complications
-
Frustration, anger or guilt
-
Relationships and family life
-
Work, study and parenting
-
Difficult experiences and loss of confidence
-
Identity beyond diabetes

Taking the next step
Living with Type 1 diabetes can sometimes feel like carrying an invisible weight. You don't have to carry it alone.
If you'd like to find out more or arrange a free 20-minute introductory phone call, I'd be pleased to hear from you.
